AI agents for energy and utilities

Utilities know where the fault probably is. The problem is that the evidence sits in three systems that were never designed to be read together.

01The systems in the way

Telemetry arrives from SCADA, the asset register is a database with no interface, meter data lands as overnight batch files, and customer complaints queue in a separate system. Locating a fault means a human correlating all four under time pressure, usually at night.

02Why the usual approaches stall

Analytics platforms visualise the telemetry beautifully and cannot reach the asset register. Anything that requires field crews to be online continuously fails at exactly the sites where outages happen.

If a human can do it in a browser or a terminal, an agent can do it — at volume, with an audit trail. That is the whole basis of how we approach energy & utilities: we treat the systems you already run as the integration surface, rather than waiting for an API that is never going to ship.

03What an agent actually does here

Worked example

An outage agent correlates telemetry with the asset register and the customer complaint queue to locate the fault before a crew is dispatched — and keeps working when the site connection does not.

This is a reference design drawn from the problems we are asked about most often in energy & utilities — not a case study of delivered client work. Where we have shipped a build, we say so plainly and put you in touch with the client.

04Constraints we design to

  • Read-only against operational technology unless a write path is explicitly agreed
  • Offline-first design for field deployment in low-connectivity areas
  • Runs inside the operational network; no requirement to export grid data
  • Every dispatch recommendation shows the telemetry and asset records behind it

Tell us which system is the problem

Describe the workflow that is done by hand today and the system that blocks it. We will come back within one working day with an initial read on feasibility — including if the honest answer is that an agent is the wrong tool.
